Francis of Delirium is the project of Jana Bahrich, a Canadian-born songwriter raised between Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and Luxembourg, who formed the band with American drummer and producer Chris Hewett. Bahrich’s songs lean into the emotionally-wrought, confessional vein of songwriting, similar to Lucy Dacus and Rufus Wainwright, but with a slice of LA-soaked sun, prescription pills, and Brett Easton Ellis-ennui. If you can believe such a sentence could be written with a straight face then you are someway to understanding Francis of Delirium. The lyrics are raw and emotional without any irony. A lost art, perhaps. But when the guitars and choruses are this good, who really cares.
